The West Tennessee Strawberry Festival is held each year in Humboldt. As a 77-year tradition, it is anticipated each year with great excitement. This event presents an opportunity for a classic West Tennessee homecoming. They come home in droves! People travel from all over the country to come back and share in this fun and traditional festival. While the first festivals were designed to market West Tennessee, it is has grown into a tradition that defined the community. Each year, residents participate in pageants, horseshows, foot races, a pet parade and more. They also eat amazing food, watch fireworks and participate in a carnival. Held the first week of May, the weather is just right for this type of outdoor event and it is a must-do for any family.
If you come in May for the festival, the weather will be perfect for exploring nearby Reelfoot Lake State Park. A major hunting and fishing spot in Lake County, you can visit at any time of year. In particular, there is much to do in spring or summer when the weather is warm and pretty, but the snow can be equally as fun. There are picnic shelters, boat ramps, wildlife viewing areas and a nature museum. It’s a great place to get active, enjoy nature and bond with family and friends.
